VINCENNES UNIVERSITY SPRING VIRTUAL COMMENCEMENT 2021
The following information is from midyear commencement. We will be updating this site as information is determined.
SATURDAY, DECEMBER 12, 2020
11:00 a.m. (Eastern Time Zone)
COMMENCEMENT CEREMONY – Watch Live on Saturday, December 12
11:00 AM EDT – Commencement ceremony begins. VincennesPBS.org. Click on the Commencement link on the slider. The program will also be available to view after the ceremony.
COMMENCEMENT PICTURES AND PARTICIPATION
How do you participate in midyear commencement?
STEP 1: Purchase your cap and gown (optional) at the Old Post Bookstore beginning Tuesday, November 2.
STEP 2: Bring your cap (decorated or not) and gown, honors regalia, and any other prop you might want to the Jefferson Student Union on one of the designated picture days. If you do not want to purchase a cap and gown we will have a few on hand for you to use. Otherwise, please dress appropriately and avoid stripes! Don't forget to wear your mask!

- Thursday, November 12 - 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
STEP 2.5: If you do not want to take part in the photo opt, but still want to participate in commencement please send us a 3.5 high resolution photo to firstname.lastname@example.org. Deadline for submission is November 10.
- Save your picture with your last name, first name. Example: Tom Smith - Smith_Tom.jpg
- Please include in your email the EXACT way your name will be in the commencement program AND your major.

Graduates are candidates for academic honors if their cumulative GPA is 3.50 or higher. The honors category will be indicated next to the student’s name in the Commencement program. Academic honors candidates are eligible to purchase honor regalia and wear in your photo shoot. Eligible students will be able to purchase their honor stole at the Registrar’s office. Please email StudentRecords@vinu.edu for more information.
Your name and degree will appear on your diploma as it reads in your graduation audit letter. The same information will be used in the mid-year commencement program. Please notify the Registrar’s Office immediately if this information needs to be updated. Once your degree is awarded, you will receive an email from the Registrar’s Office regarding degree confirmation and when to expect your diploma.
CAPS / GOWNS / TASSELS - GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS
Caps, gowns and tassels may be picked up at the Old Post Bookstore beginning Tuesday, November 1. Bookstore hours are Monday – Thursday, 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The cost of the set, which the graduate keeps, is $35.00 plus tax for Associate degree graduates and $45.00 plus tax for Baccalaureate degree graduates. Additional tassels may be purchased for $5.00 each. Cap and gowns will be available for preorder at http://vubookstore.vinu.edu/home. Continue to watch the website for more details on dates and times for pickup.
Graduation announcements are also available for purchase in the Bookstore.
Military Cords are available in the Veterans Support Services Office located in the Extended Studies building (ES 87) on the corner of 4th Street and College Ave. For more information please call 812.888.5634.
BOOK BUY-BACK AND BOOK RENTAL RETURN
Rental books are due back by January 25, 2021. Students may either drop them off at the bookstore or ship them back. We are still waiting on information about book buy-back. This information will be posted to the commencement webpage at vinu.edu/commencement.

Each year as VU Graduates leave our campus, we are required to gather destination information.
