The Academic Support Center is a convenient resource free to all VUJC students. You can find us in the Classroom Building, Room 136. ASC offers tutoring in many subjects each semester. We have both peer (student) and professional (degree) tutors available to help. You do not need an appointment. Schedules are posted outside the center, around campus, and on the Jasper Campus website.
There are eight computers for students' use, although we ask that you use the library for large print jobs and general use. ASC is not an open lab, and we need to have our computers available for our tutors to help students who need our assistance. Some of our computers have software programs on them for practice in math, grammar, and office skills.
ASC has math CDs and DVDs for students to borrow and watch at home. There is also a collection of videos available in a variety of topics, such as note taking, study skills, test anxiety, and more, for students to watch in the center. We have handouts on using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, as well as copies of the APA and MLA style books for center use.
If you need to make up a test you missed in class, you may be taking it in the Academic Support Center. We appreciate it if you will call us and make an appointment. In fact, feel free to call us with any questions you might have.
