Dear VU Colleagues, Students, and Stakeholders:

Vincennes University’s leadership wants to make you aware that Governor Eric J. Holcomb and the Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH) announced today the first presumptive positive case of COVID-19, and that Gov. Holcomb issued a public health emergency declaration.

The public health emergency declaration Gov. Holcomb issued today will call on state agencies to continue their diligence and cooperation in responding to COVID-19 and ensures that Indiana can seek funding to control and stop the spread of coronavirus.

The declaration is posted at www.in.gov/gov.

Please rest assured, VU’s administration is continuing to closely monitor the situation and all pertinent information and communications.

As previously announced, the VU Executive Team is receiving briefings and the University will continue to share relevant information for minimizing the potential impact of COVID-19 at VU. VU’s Emergency Management Planning Committee, under the leadership of Interim Assistant Provost Lynn White, has met and has reviewed advisories from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and other agencies to determine strategies for managing a possible outbreak at VU. A special COVID-19 subcommittee has been established to refine strategies and plans for communicating about virus prevention and to draft plans for responding to a potential outbreak at VU.

Best regards,

Chuck Johnson, Ph.D.

President

Vincennes University
