September 5, 2017 / InternPLUS scholarships presented

JASPER, Ind. - Three students enrolled in Vincennes University’s InternPLUS Career Advancement Partnership (CAP) program have each received a $1,000 scholarship from InternPLUS. These students are Charles O’Neill, Cannelburg; Troy Schlachter, Ferdinand; and Travis Wigand, Jasper.

Students enrolled in their second year of the InternPLUS CAP program are eligible to apply for the scholarships. O’Neill is working as an intern with Kimball Electronics; Schlachter interns with Indiana Furniture Industries; and Wigand is with MasterBrand Cabinets.

The CAP program is offered through Vincennes University Jasper and offers students hands-on experience in the classroom and an opportunity to work two days a week as an intern at a local manufacturing partner. The program culminates in a two-year degree in General Technology that combines cutting-edge curriculum with courses in PLC, CNC programming and operation, manufacturing processes, introduction to robotics and automation, electronics for automation, beginning CAD, welding, and hydraulics and pneumatics.

InternPLUS partners work closely with industry leaders to offer different areas of study within the field of advanced manufacturing, including automation technology, general technology, industrial maintenance, and precision machining. VU offers four InternPLUS programs at three campuses: Machining Internship Program (MIP) and Advanced Manufacturing Technician (AMT) at Vincennes; Career Advancement Partnership (CAP) at Jasper; and Advanced Internship in Manufacturing (AIM) at Lafayette.
