VINCENNES, Ind. - The Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy is sponsoring a number of events and adventures for all ages and the public is invited to attend.

On October 29, children ages 6 through 16 are invited to audition for roles in “The Children’s Nutcracker Ballet.” Auditions will take place at Shircliff Theatre located inside the Shircliff Humanities Center at the corner of Second and Harrison Streets. Times are are 2:30-3:15 p.m. (EDT) for 6-9 year olds and 3:15-4 p.m. for 9-16 year olds. Some dance/tumbling training is a plus, but is not required. Those auditioning should wear dance clothing or stretch pants with comfortable tops and dance shoes and socks. The audition will be run by Deena Laska Lewis, founder and choreographer of the Children’s Center for Dance Education. “The Children’s Nutcracker Ballet” will be performed twice on Dec. 16, at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

There will be “Skeletons at the Museum” on Oct. 31, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with showings of Red Skelton Halloween episodes. Highlights include featured skits with stars of horror films of the past, including Peter Lorre, Bela Lugosi, Lon Chaney Jr., Boris Karloff, and Vincent Price. Admission is free to Museum members. The cost for non-members is covered with the admission fee to the Museum.

On Nov. 5 the Museum will host “A Tribute to Bob Hope and Radio Stars of the 1940s.” The show will begin at 7 p.m. and tickets are $10 general admission. Tickets are available at the Museum and the Indiana Military Museum. The show will feature comedian/musicians Lynn Roberts and Chuck Carson who bring to life the radio programs of WWII during their stage performance of “On The Air.” The fun-filled production will include visits from Bob Hope, Jimmy Durante, Red Skelton, and Jack Benny.
