March 12, 2019 / VU to host exhibition of art works by Knox County
high school students
VINCENNES, Ind. - More than 100 works by Knox County high
school student artists will be on exhibit at Vincennes University’s
Shircliff Gallery of Art beginning March 25. A reception and awards
presentation will take place in the Gallery on March 26, 6 p.m. (EDT).
The exhibition will run through April 5 at the Gallery, located
at 130 E. Harrison Street. Schools represented include Vincennes
Lincoln, Rivet, North Knox, and South Knox.
Awards will be juried by Brittany Sievers, MFA, VU ceramics
instructor. Best of Show awards will be presented in two-dimensional
medium and three-dimensional medium. First place, second place, and
honorable mentions will be awarded in the categories of black and
white drawing, ceramics, color drawing, glass/metals, painting
(includes oil and acrylic), photography, printmaking sculpture,
textiles, three-dimensional mixed media, and two-dimensional mixed
media. Certificates will be presented to all winners and Tri-Kappa
Sorority will present individual awards. The VU Art and Design faculty
will award scholarship money that is contingent on enrollment in the
VU Art and Design program in the fall.
Vincennes University is an accredited member of the National
Association of Schools of Art and Design. Graduates have transferred
to more than 70 four-year colleges and professional art schools around
the nation. Shircliff Gallery is also a member of the Association of
Academic Museums and Galleries.
Shircliff Gallery of Art is located on the VU campus in Room
A103 of the Shircliff Humanities Center at the corner of First and
Harrison streets. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through
Thursday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and 12-4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission
is free.
