Lady 'Blazers continue winning ways over short-handed Kaskaskia

VINCENNES, Ind. –  Five freshmen reached double figures as the Vincennes University women's basketball team won 97-50 over Region 24 opponent Kaskaskia on Saturday..

Kaskaskia matched the Trailblazers' offensive pace in the early stages of the game resulting in a one-point Blue Angel lead after the first quarter, after the lead changed eight times in the first 10 minutes of action inside the P.E. Complex. VU used a 22-2 run early in the second quarter to spring the Lady Blazers to a 20-point lead, which gave VU a 47-29 advantage at the break.

Freshman Fess Hawkins did the bulk of the Trailblazers’ scoring in the first half, going into the locker room with 16 points and 6 rebounds.

VU continued to expand its lead in the second-half, only yielding 21 points in the final two periods of play.
