Trailblazers continue to fight off challenges to unblemished record

HARRISBURG, Ill. – The Vincennes University Men’s Basketball Team fought off yet another attack on the Trailblazers’ perfect record and NJCAA top ranking Saturday when VU defeated host Southeastern Illinois by an 81-71 score.
Sophomore Donte’ McGill scored 19 points with the help of three of VU’s 11 3-pointers and sophomore Charles Foster finished with 16 to lead the Trailblazers. Freshman Keith Mack scored 11 points off the bench, including a 7-of-9 performance at the free throw line.
Freshman Makur Puou pulled down seven rebounds for VU.
The Trailblazers will host Lewis & Clark at 7 p.m. Wednesday and then travel to Kaskaskia on Jan. 24. That game will be at about 4 p.m. (“Vincennes time”), after the VU women take on Kaskaskia.

Scholarship Fund

Trailblazer Scholarship Fund - The VU Foundation awarded a record $1.4 million scholarship dollars of VU Foundation and University funds for the 2015-2016 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  

These included awards to students from 10 states across the country and 4 international awards.  

Currently the VU Foundation manages over 540 scholarship and department funds, with 259 new funds created in just the last 10 years.

Play for Kay Cancer Awareness

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation, is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. Kay Yow was a college head coach for 38 years and past president and founding member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Her name is synonymous with North Carolina State. She is a member of the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame and achieved more than 700 career victories. Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. She passed away in 2009 after an on-again, off-again battle with the disease.
