Vincennes University men’s basketball falls to Olney Central

VINCENNES, Ind. – The No. 8 Vincennes University men’s basketball team suffered a two-point loss to Olney Central on Wednesday night 72-70.

VU Statistical Leaders               

Sophomore Craig Porter (Terre Haute, Ind.) put up 28 points, seven assists, and five rebounds.

Sophomore Kevin Osawe (Brampton, Ontario, Canada) had 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Coach Franklin says

“I think we need to do the things we’re taught and trained to do every day, and I think we need to do them with intensity. If we don’t, we deserve to get beat. We left too many things on the table tonight, things we didn’t even attempt to do.”

Next up

The Trailblazers travel to Mattoon, Ill. to face Lake Land on Wednesday, Feb.19 at 7 p.m. EST.

Play for Kay Cancer Awareness

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation, is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. Kay Yow was a college head coach for 38 years and past president and founding member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Her name is synonymous with North Carolina State. She is a member of the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame and achieved more than 700 career victories. Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. She passed away in 2009 after an on-again, off-again battle with the disease.

Scholarship Fund

Trailblazer Scholarship Fund - The VU Foundation awarded a record $1.4 million scholarship dollars of VU Foundation and University funds for the 2015-2016 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  

These included awards to students from 10 states across the country and 4 international awards.  

Currently the VU Foundation manages over 540 scholarship and department funds, with 259 new funds created in just the last 10 years.
