Vincennes University to honor Blazers’ undefeated regular season and third consecutive trip to NJCAA national tournament

Vincennes University will host a reception April 1 to honor the VU Men’s Basketball Team’s undefeated regular season and third consecutive trip to the NJCAA Div. I Men’s Basketball National Championship Tournament in Hutchinson, KS.
The Trailblazers posted VU’s second undefeated regular season with a 30-0 slate. VU didn’t lose a game until the championship game of the NJCAA District 16 Tournament. The Trailblazers ended the season at 33-2. The April 1 reception will recognize the VU players, coaches and staff. It is free and open to all VU students, faculty and staff, as well as Trailblazer athletics boosters and the community as a whole. It will be 4:30-6 p.m. on the main floor of the VU P.E. Complex. Refreshments will be served.
The celebration will include VU Athletic Director Harry Meeks as master of ceremonies. The program will feature VU Men’s Basketball Coach Todd Franklin speaking.

The Vincennes University Athletic Department hosts Play4Kay and raises donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund annually. VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.

Scholarship Fund

Trailblazer Scholarship fund - The VU foundation awarded $970,242.80 scholarship dollars of the VU Foundation and University funds for the 2017-18 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  These included awards to students from 8 states across the country and 3 international awards.

The VU Foundation currently manages over 525 scholarship and department funds, with 247 news funds created in just the last 9 years.
