VU Blazer Baseball announces Summer Baseball Showcase dates; Workouts put prep players before VU coaches

The Vincennes University Blazer Baseball Team will hold its 2015 Summer Showcase on Tuesday, July 28 (rain date: July 29) for top high school players who are serious about a possible future in college baseball. Participants will be able to showcase their talents in front of the VU Baseball coaching staff.
The showcase will be at VU’s Jerry Blemker Baseball Field (1562 Old Terre Haute Road in Vincennes).
The Showcase will be all-day event as the coaching staff will use the following schedule:
  • 10:15-10:45       Registration,
  • 10:45- 11:00      Introduction of staff,
  • 11:00 a.m.         Showcase begins

(All times Eastern Standard Time)

The showcase will be similar to pro-style workouts and will include the following:

  • 60-yard sprint,
  • Infield/outfield,
  • On-field hitting (weather permitting),
  • Pitching (includes live-game situations),
  • Practice game
  • A tour of the VU campus.

*The showcase is limited to the first 64 players. Players MUST BE IN HIGH SCHOOL to attend.

The showcase fee is $60 for Pre-Registration (registration form attached) or $70 the day of the workouts. Checks should be made payable to: Vincennes University Baseball (fee includes camp T-shirt).
Participants should bring cleats, a glove, a hat and baseball pants. Catchers should bring their own equipment.
If registered participants are unable to attend or weather forces VU Baseball staff to cancel both days, participants will be credited toward one of VU Blazer Baseball’s two showcases in the fall.

Play for Kay Cancer Awareness

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation, is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. Kay Yow was a college head coach for 38 years and past president and founding member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Her name is synonymous with North Carolina State. She is a member of the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame and achieved more than 700 career victories. Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. She passed away in 2009 after an on-again, off-again battle with the disease.

Scholarship Fund

Trailblazer Scholarship Fund - The VU Foundation awarded a record $1.4 million scholarship dollars of VU Foundation and University funds for the 2015-2016 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  

These included awards to students from 10 states across the country and 4 international awards.  

Currently the VU Foundation manages over 540 scholarship and department funds, with 259 new funds created in just the last 10 years.
