VU drops doubleheader to Lewis and Clark

VINCENNES, Ind. –  Sophomore Treven Madden and sophomore Walker Paris had multiple hits in Game One of the Vincennes University baseball team’s Mid-West Athletic Conference doubleheader against Lewis and Clark on Tuesday.

VU took an early lead, but fell 7-3 at Jerry Blemker Field.

The home team scored one run in the first inning and maintained a 1-0 lead until the top of the fourth when Lewis and Clark put three runs on the scoreboard.

VU scored in the bottom of the fourth to pull within 3-2.

Lewis and Clark went ahead 4-2 in top of the sixth. VU answered by scoring a run in the bottom of the inning and the score was 4-3.

The visitors scored three runs in the seventh inning.

There were plenty scoring chances for VU. It stranded seven runners on base.

Madden and Paris finished with two hits apiece.

Paris hit a double and scored two runs.

Freshman Ryan Robison, sophomore Tyler Estes and freshman Max Flock all drove in runs.

Sophomore Kavan Crowell gave up four hits in 4.1 innings. He walked two.

Sophomore Isaiah Davis struck out three batters in 1.2 innings. He allowed four hits.

In Game Two, sophomore Brian Campbell had the lone hit for VU in a 14-0 loss in five innings.

The visiting squad jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning.

Freshman starter Noah Woodward allowed three hits and three runs.

Lewis and Clark swept the four-game conference series.

Play for Kay Cancer Awareness

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation, is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. Kay Yow was a college head coach for 38 years and past president and founding member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Her name is synonymous with North Carolina State. She is a member of the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame and achieved more than 700 career victories. Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. She passed away in 2009 after an on-again, off-again battle with the disease.

Scholarship Fund

Trailblazer Scholarship Fund - The VU Foundation awarded a record $1.4 million scholarship dollars of VU Foundation and University funds for the 2015-2016 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  

These included awards to students from 10 states across the country and 4 international awards.  

Currently the VU Foundation manages over 540 scholarship and department funds, with 259 new funds created in just the last 10 years.
