VU Golf claims third straight event with win at Kaskaskia Invitational

CARLYLE, Ill. - The Vincennes University Golf Team won its third straight tournament Saturday and Sunday when the Trailblazers wrapped up the title at the Kaskaskia Invitational at Governors Run Golf Course in Carlyle, IL.

The Trailblazers carded a two-round score of 609 to top second place Mineral Area's 627 and third place Lewis & Clark's 633 score. Host Kaskaskia and Lincoln Trail rounded out the field.

Individually, VU also had the top three scores in the tournament. Cameron Weyer continued his outstanding play to claim "medalist" honors, while Austin Leonard and Alex Halter followed. Weyer was first after coming out on top in a play-off with Leonard.

Play for Kay Cancer Awareness

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation, is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. Kay Yow was a college head coach for 38 years and past president and founding member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Her name is synonymous with North Carolina State. She is a member of the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame and achieved more than 700 career victories. Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. She passed away in 2009 after an on-again, off-again battle with the disease.

Scholarship Fund

Trailblazer Scholarship Fund - The VU Foundation awarded a record $1.4 million scholarship dollars of VU Foundation and University funds for the 2015-2016 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  

These included awards to students from 10 states across the country and 4 international awards.  

Currently the VU Foundation manages over 540 scholarship and department funds, with 259 new funds created in just the last 10 years.
