VU Men's Basketball occupies No. 1 spot in final regular season poll; Trailblazers end regular season rankings activity right where it started

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – The unbeaten Vincennes University Men’s Basketball Team will close out the regular season just where it started the year in the NJCAA’s Div. I Men’s Basketball rankings: on top.

In the final regular season poll, which was released today from the NJCAA headquarters in Colorado Springs, CO, the Trailblazers (28-0) once again received all 16 first place votes to outdistance runner-up Connors State, 350-334 in points. With the exception of a two-week period in the middle of the season, VU has been the No. 1 team since the preseason poll in October.

After Connors State (27-1), which moved up from No. 4 last week, the rest of this week’s Top 10 looks like this: 3. Hill (27-2), 4. Trinity Valley (26-3), 5. Northwest Florida State (26-2), 6. Eastern Florida State (27-3), 7. Butler (27-2), 8. College of Southern Idaho (28-2), 9. Harcum (27-3), 10. Mineral Area (24-3).

The Trailblazers will travel to Lewis & Clark in Godfrey, IL, on Wednesday. VU will then return home to host Kaskaskia on Saturday as the Trailblazers look to wrap up an undefeated regular season.

Play4Kay

The Vincennes University Athletic Department hosts Play4Kay and raises donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund annually. VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.
