VU Traillblazers reclaim top spot in latest NJCAA Div. I Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - As a result of the Vincennes University Men's Basketball Team running its season record to 25-0 while last week's NJCAA Div. I Men's Basketball No. 1 Northwest Florida State lost to Gulf Coast, the Trailblazers have reclaimed the top spot in this week's rankings. The latest poll was released earlier today, with VU atop the rankings after being No. 2 the past two weeks.

VU returned to the top spot with 14 first place votes and 350 points. Northwest Florida State (24-1) still received two first place votes but the Trailblazers outdistanced new No. 2 Hill (24-1) by 21 points.

So, the latest Top 10 looks like this:

1. VU,

2. Hill,

3. Northwest Florida State,

4. Connors State (23-1),

5. Butler (23-1),

6. Southern Idaho (25-1),

7. Eastern Florida State (24-3),

8. Trinity Valley (22-3),

9. Southwest Tennessee (19-2), and,

10. Mineral Area (22-2).

VU Men's and Women's Basketball host Southwestern Illinois Saturday!


The Vincennes University Athletic Department hosts Play4Kay and raises donations for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund annually. VU Women’s Basketball Coach and Athletic Director Harry Meeks has a special connection to the late Yow, who was the longtime coach at North Carolina State. He had the pleasure of meeting her while he was an assistant coach at Western Carolina University. This left a lasting impression on him and made this cause important to him and the Trailblazers.

Trailblazer Scholarship fund - The VU foundation awarded $970,242.80 scholarship dollars of the VU Foundation and University funds for the 2017-18 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  These included awards to students from 8 states across the country and 3 international awards.

The VU Foundation currently manages over 525 scholarship and department funds, with 247 news funds created in just the last 9 years.
