VU Trailblazer Cross Country Teams compete at Indiana Intercollegiate “Little State” Meet

TERRE HAUTE – Sophomore Kelly O’Shea finished 35th, the Vincennes University Women’s Cross Country Team was 11th out of 19 teams and the Trailblazer men finished 15th out of 19 squads Friday in the Indiana Intercollegiate “Little State” Meet. The University of Indianapolis claimed the women’s 5k race, while Wabash College won on the 8k men’s side.

The meet was held at Indiana State University’s LaVerne Gibson Championship Course near Terre Haute.

A complete look at VU’s individual performances in Friday’s “Little State” races is as follows:

  • Chloe Heller: 69th; 21:34.8,
  • Wendy Catalan: 71st; 21:43.1,
  • Janeth Magana: 72nd; 21:44.4,
  • Toni Waddell: 100th; 22:54.2, and,
  • Breanna Gahagan: 113th; 24:00.6.

  • Jaden Page: 94th; 30:19.4,
  • Joshua Backes: 106th; 30:56.3,
  • Eric Johnson: 118th; 31:31.8,

  • Brayden Little: 142nd; 34.39.8.

VU will be back in action at the Oct. 3 Greater Louisville Classic at Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, KY.

Play for Kay Cancer Awareness

The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) and The V Foundation, is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization committed to being a part of finding an answer in the fight against women's cancers through raising money for scientific research, assisting the underserved and unifying people for a common cause. Kay Yow was a college head coach for 38 years and past president and founding member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association. Her name is synonymous with North Carolina State. She is a member of the Naismith National Basketball Hall of Fame and achieved more than 700 career victories. Yow was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987. She passed away in 2009 after an on-again, off-again battle with the disease.

Scholarship Fund

Trailblazer Scholarship Fund - The VU Foundation awarded a record $1.4 million scholarship dollars of VU Foundation and University funds for the 2015-2016 school year to incoming and returning VU students.  

These included awards to students from 10 states across the country and 4 international awards.  

Currently the VU Foundation manages over 540 scholarship and department funds, with 259 new funds created in just the last 10 years.
