VU Trailblazers can’t get started in loss to Indian Hills, 80-62

Sophomore Justin King had 21 points and seven rebounds but the Vincennes University Men’s Basketball Team shot only 27.9 percent from the floor as a unit Tuesday night in falling 80-62 to Indian Hills at the VU P.E. Complex.

VU (2-3) fell behind early, trailed 34-15 at halftime and got down by as many 25 early in the second half in the setback. The Trailblazers, who hit only 5-of-22 from beyond the arc and 23-of-34 from the free throw line, cut the deficit to eight at one point in the second 20 minutes but couldn’t prevent the Warriors from pulling away.

The Trailblazers also got 12 points from freshman Jeremiah Bell, while freshman Nate Hansen scored 10. Bell also grabbed seven rebounds and dished out five assists. Sophomore Makur Puou yanked down eight boards. Indian Hills was led by forward Nuni Omot’s game-high 25 points.

VU will be back in action Friday and Saturday in hosting the Sodexo Classic at the VU P.E. Complex. The Trailblazers will meet Ancilla at 7 p.m. Friday, then take on Kankakee at 7 p.m. Saturday.
