December 22, 2016 - Music clinic will help students prepare for performance and competition
VINCENNES, Ind. - Flute and Piano Day, a clinic designed specifically to help flute and piano students prepare for performance and competition, will be held at Vincennes University’s Red Skelton Performing Arts Center on Jan. 14. Students in grades 8-12 are invited to attend the workshop, hosted by the VU Department of Music and Theatre.
The clinic is free and advance registration is required. Clinic hours are 10 a.m. (EST) to 3:30 p.m. and lunch will be included.
With ISSMA solo and ensemble auditions and other competitions coming up soon, Flute and Piano Day will provide students with valuable feedback from two members of the VU music faculty, Claudia Bossard for piano and Eric Bowling for flute.
Participants will perform in a master class setting. Topics will include critical listening and discussion, performance preparation, tone, and varieties of musical selections.
