VINCENNES, Ind. - The Vincennes University Department of Music will present “A Christmas Gala” on Dec. 4 at 7:30 p.m. EST in the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center Theatre, 20 W. Red Skelton Blvd.

The concert is free and the public is invited to attend. Doors open at 7 p.m.

The concert will include a wide variety of choral and instrumental literature ranging from traditional carols to jazz/rock tunes and pop selections as well as standard holiday favorites. The performance will showcase a variety of VU student performing groups, including the VU Concert Band and the VU Percussion Ensemble, under the direction of Susie Jackson; the VU Concert Choir and the “VU Connection”, under the direction of Dr. Jennifer Harris; the VU Jazz Ensemble, under the direction of Addisson Grimm; the VU Blues Ensemble, under the direction of Virgil Franklin; the VU String Ensemble, under the direction of Diana Wuli; and the VU Woodwind Ensemble, under the direction of Joyce Kim-Rohrer. Featured faculty soloists include Mike Howell, guitar.

Pre-concert entertainment will be provided in the lobby by VU piano students and piano faculty.

VINCENNES UNIVERSITY - Indiana’s First College

VU is state-supported with campuses in Vincennes and Jasper, the Aviation Technology Center and American Sign Language program in Indianapolis, Early College Career and Technical Education Centers, and additional sites such as the Gene Haas Training and Education Center in Lebanon, the Logistics Training and Education Center in Plainfield, and the Gibson County Center for Advanced Manufacturing and Logistics in Fort Branch. VU enrolls students from throughout Indiana, 36 other states, and 21 other countries. Tuition and fees are the lowest among Indiana campuses with residence halls. VU is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

Founded in 1801, VU is Indiana’s first college and is the only college in the nation founded by an individual who would later become President of the United States.
