March 27, 2017 / VU exhibits works by area high school artists
VINCENNES, Ind. - An exhibition featuring 115 pieces by students from the four Knox County high schools opens today at Vincennes University’s Shircliff Gallery of Art. The exhibition will run through April 7.
On Friday the student artists will be recognized at an opening reception and awards ceremony at the gallery at 6:00 p.m. (EST). Admission is free and the public is invited to attend.
Awards will be juried by William Meyer, MFA, instructor of art education at VU. Best of Show awards will be presented in two-dimensional medium and three-dimensional medium. First place, second place, and honorable mentions will be awarded in black and white drawing, ceramics, color drawing, glass/metals, painting (oil and acrylic), photography, printmaking, sculpture, textiles, three-dimensional mixed media, and two-dimensional mixed media.
Tri-Kappa Sorority will select notable pieces for awards and VU art faculty members will select up to six students to receive VU scholarships.
Shircliff Gallery of Art is located in the Shircliff Humanities Center at the corner of First and Harrison streets. Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; 12-3 p.m. Sunday.
