Jennifer Pacheco, Assistant Professor

Dr. Pacheco has 26 years of experience in business and management. She is a veteran of the United States Army and she earned a PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Grand Canyon University. She also holds an MBA and a Bachelor of Business Studies from Dallas Baptist University. Dr. Pacheco has extensive experience leading small and large teams in the public and private sectors. “I believe in bringing experiential learning to the classroom, allowing students to learn through simulations and interactions with current business leaders from a wide variety of backgrounds and industries. My favorite part of teaching is witnessing how much my students grow and mature between their freshmen and sophomore years. I have the privilege of shaping the minds of future business leaders and I am honored to play a part in their personal and professional development.”

Mission Statement
The mission of the Vincennes University Business Administration program prepares students to transfer into baccalaureate business programs and to become competitive participants in today's fast-paced business environment. Through course work, labs, and projects, students will learn foundational business concepts and principles in financial and managerial accounting, business law, computer concepts, economics, and business statistics. Students will use these fundamental concepts, along with general education courses, to develop their critical thinking skills, which will aid them in becoming competitive participants in their baccalaureate programs, and in their future careers.  

Program Learning Outcomes
Students who complete course work in the Business Administration program will be able to:

  • Utilize quantitative reasoning tools and analysis to solve business problems and make business decisions.
  • Communicate effectively in a wide variety of business settings employing multiple media.
  • Recognize ethical issues in business and utilize thoughtful decision making for sustainable and socially responsible behavior.

Challenging academic programs that prepare students to transfer into baccalaureate programs
Classes at Vincennes University are designed with rigorous content to prepare students to be successful upon transfer into baccalaureate programs. The faculty work closely with colleagues at other four-year institutions to ensure that the material taught in VU's classes aligns with the material taught in business programs statewide. The content and rigor in VU's business courses are at the same level as any other four-year institution in Indiana. Thus, when the students enter their baccalaureate programs, whether at Vincennes University or at another four-year university, they are well prepared to assume the required workload.

Undecided on a major? 

VU is a great place to explore at a low cost.  The curriculum at VU explores all the major functions of business so the student can choose an area of interest to further pursue on the bachelor level.  Also, the Career Center provides testing to determine areas of strengths/interest with career paths. 

Focus on Active Learning

VU provides hands-on learning to simulate real-world situations to engage students in an active learning environment. 

  • Students manufacture skateboards to apply costing concepts.
  • Publicly traded companies' annual reports are analyzed to apply financial accounting concepts. 
  • Students examine various departments within local organizations to apply newly learned concepts and to identify areas where there are potential opportunities for improvement relating to efficiencies, productivity, or other key performance indicators.
  • Students in Business Law courses attend court to observe live cases in session to gain a better understanding of the way that the court system operates. 
  • Capstone project simulation brings all facets of business together to made data-driven decisions in a manufacturing environment.
