Business and industry want people who can communicate, interact with all kinds of people, and have knowledge of world events. As a Pre-Law major at Vincennes University, you will gain a broad liberal arts background to ensure success in whatever career you ultimately choose.
Law schools have high academic standards, and only those with a solid foundation are likely to succeed. At VU we will help you build that foundation through: highly skilled professors, quality coursework, a study skills center, free tutoring
The VU Pre-Law students have indicated a strong desire to be lawyers. Completing the first two years of pre-law studies at VU prepares them well to continue their education at transfer institutions that will prepare them for government work, education, or business. To help with your studies, the University maintains a complete, centralized law library, access to the WESTLAW computer system, and a multimedia Learning Resource Center.
Learning By Doing
Organizations such as campus elections, sororities, fraternities, and political internships provide opportunities to participate in leadership and government affairs. And at VU you don't have to compete with juniors and seniors, so your chances of being able to test and improve your leadership skills as a freshman are much greater than they would be at another, four-year school.
There is no single course of study for pre-law majors. Law schools generally desire superior students who have completed a liberal arts program, but a large number of law students come from schools of business. Political science provides a good major, and business, history, English, mathematics, psychology, philosophy and economics are good minors. The program below is essentially a liberal arts curriculum.
